In case you're wondering what's with the videos, I found an old mixtape from December 1986 at the bottom of the box.
Chillin' out.
Mini-review of TAKEN: Jason Bourne who? Don't frak with Liam Neeson, cuz he'll find you and mess you up BUT GOOD.
Great. My Launchpad repositories got horked somehow. Now I need to recreate the key.
Not too shabby today. Actually got to wear my sandals outside today.
THIS JUST IN: Pancakes are awesome. That is all.
Dear Google: that malware warning you implemented? LAME. Amazon and YouTube will give me malware?!? Really??? FIX THIS NOW, PLEASE. Regards, Me.
Good morning, intrawebz. Seeing as I am up way earlier than I'm used to, I thought I'd make pancakes. Who wants some?
Good night, intrawebz.

Friday, January 30, 2009

Songbird and VLC have both crapped out on me tonight. Haven't been able to even get Songbird working. MUSIC FAIL.
Playing video games while my thoughts coalesce into blog posts.
Pizza with the grandparents. Ethan enjoys all the attention. Sparky, however, is less sure.
Home from the salt mines. Doing the old Friday night link dump before I go have dinner with the family.
At home for lunch. Only a few more hours at work, and then the weekend begins for me.

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Home from the salt mines. Mmmmmmm, Chicago-style hot dogs ...
Heading out the door. Hopefully, those auto locks on the laser turrets will hold this time.
The next Nobel Prize for Physics should be reserved for the person who creates batteries for electronic devices that keep their charge for a week.
Good morning, intrawebz.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Back from babysitting. I really hope that, sometime tonight, I'll get to sleep.
OK, the G1 just cut out with 50% power remaining. Either the battery is horked or the magnetic field my body puts out just went into overdrive.
Three hours to go at work. Bored.
The sky is dark. The moon weeps blood. The screaming wafts across the firmament. Why? The coffee maker at work is broken.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Back from the hospital. Pop is going to be staying for a couple of days while the doctors figure out what the deal is.
Good morning, intrawebz. How are you on this chilly morning?

Monday, January 26, 2009

Feeling very tort-happy right now. Thanks, Manpower. http://ping.fm/Rvb0y
I am finding that I really enjoy those moments of solace where I've forgotten to bring my mobile with me.
I am such a dork. Lost my keys this weekend and have been using the spare set I keep in case of emergency. Just found my original keys now - where I usually keep the emergency set. DOH!
Good morning, intrawebz. Can you believe that the first month of the year is nearly over already?

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Time for bed. Good night, all.
Good morning, intrawebz. I brought donuts. They're next to the coffee pot.
Is time for sleepies. Night, night, all. And take out your contacts, Penguin. :)
Argh. Surfed over to Flickr to get a photo and got distracted by Katie West. That happens more often than I'd like to admit.

Musical bliss: finding out in a music store that one of your favorite artists (Jane Monheit) has just put out a new album, then remembering before you reach the checkout counter that your favorite music service (eMusic) carries her songs. WIN!
With all due respect to these furniture designers, it's probably a good thing that I don't have stuff like this. I have a hard enough time getting my fat ass away from the computer. http://ping.fm/sf8FB
Ah, cleaning is done. Well, except for the vacuuming, but I don't want to wake the baby. Now for a well-deserved PS2 break.
Time for the weekend cleanup. Urgh. Hate cleaning the bathroom.
OK, Pidgin just crashed twice in the last hour. What gives?
Finally going to bed. Good night, all.

Friday, January 23, 2009

Geez, the stack of work on my desk. I say this every day, but: going invisible today. At least, until I answer the eternal question later on tonight: BSG or Ffundercats?
You know what's really funny? Even though I'm functionally deaf in my left ear, I can still hear the faint sounds of a crying baby at 2 in the morning.
Good morning, intrawebz.
Wow! Look at the time. Sleepies now. Good night, all.

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Just rewatched the last BSG episode. Holy cow, is that thing depressing. They should put a warning label on it.
Gonna be the Invisible Man today on the intrawebz. Lots of work to do.
RANDOM THOUGHT: Do you think that Tony Shahloub does a Google Search for his name? If so, he has to wonder why everyone on some social media site think that he's a cockblocker.
Way past time for bed. Much work to do tomorrow. Good night, all.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Yep, bringing that silver and garlic turned out to be a good idea. We ended up making pizza. On my way home.
I feel bad about not uploading my vids to Seesmic anymore. I blame the Flip. Stupid massive video files.
Listening to the Ffundercats. "Tony Shahloub is such a cockblocker" is still hella funny.
list
I'd give my eye teeth for some baby carrots and ranch dressing now.
Good morning, intrawebz. Halfway through the week, and already I dread next Monday. This is not a good sign.
Is time for sleepies now. Good night, all.

Recording a video RE: the recent spate of serial unpleasantness on FriendFeed.
Home from the salt mines. I am never leaving home again without my headphones.
Going slightly insane today. I left my headphones at home, which means no music or podcasts for me. How do my coworkers deal with all this silence?
I have to admit: I'm getting a kick out of watching Rush Limbaugh and his ilk trying desperately to piss on Barack Obama's big day.
Oy. The baby was up all night. Josh and Olga look wiped out. Just wait til Ethan starts teething.
Good grief. Even BBC America has been swept up in Inauguration Fever. Five hours of inauguration stuff today.
Good morning, intrawebz. I hear that today is a big day. :)

Monday, January 19, 2009

Surfing for new tunes on eMusic. You wouldn't think that picking 100 tracks would be so difficult, but there's so much good stuff that choosing is rough.
Lots of work today. Gonna have to activate the personal firewall today until I get it down to a manageable pile. Be back later.
Good morning, intrawebz. Just woke and found out that I had muted the alarm on my G1 last night so I wouldn't hear the constant buzzing from the previous Scoble thread. I think I'm going to be late.
Long week ahead, and I'm up way too late. Good night, all.
Memo to Robert Scoble: if people, especially Americans, do not know what journalism is, it's because they haven't had any compelling examples of real journalism.

Sunday, January 18, 2009

I am officially OLD. A commercial for the Grammys came on, and not only have I not heard of the majority of the artists, I actually radiated hate towards one in particular. I am now El Viejo Bombo de Intrawebz.
That screaming sound you heard earlier today? The sound of a million bookies who lost their shirts betting against the Cardinals.
I have returned.
Gonna take some time off from the computer. Be back later.
Got one of the two W2s I've been expecting. Funny thing: apparently, employer says that they withheld $0 in fed and state taxes. Which is strange, because I don't remember taking home super-sized paychecks at the beginning of the year. Needless to say, time for a phone call.
Reading my political feeds right now, and it slays me how many people STILL watch Sunday morning political talk shows. Seriously, that crap is more predictable and less funny than the worst reality show or wrestling dreck.
Too tired to sleep. Which means I should probably go to bed. Good night, all.

Saturday, January 17, 2009

Conversation from this morning: Lisa (Olga's mom): "Were you singing this morning?" Me: "NOPENOTMEUHUHNEVERHEARDOFSUCHATHING." Lisa: *laughs* "But you have such a nice voice." Me: "Nope, the neighbor kids. They never turn down their stupid stereo."
Still groggy. Nap didn't help. I am never getting out of bed before 7 on a weekend again.
Pop just arrived. He hasn't seen the baby all week, as he's been down with a touch of pneumonia.
OK, taking a computer break to read to the baby. Be back later.
Good morning, intrawebz. And a very freaking early morning it is.
It's been a load of laughs today, but this old man needs sleep. Good night, all.

Friday, January 16, 2009

Wait, Bush was on TV last night? Really? Huh. Oh, well.
Horribly behind on my feeds. I actually tried working this afternoon instead of daydreaming and surfing the net. What was I thinking?
QUESTION: Should I watch BATTLESTAR GALACTICA tonight, or hang out with the Ffundercats?
Home from the salt mines. Want a nap.
Where to go for lunch, I wonder?
Bestest news I've had today: "ceiling Kat has subscribed to your FriendFeed." O HAI, CEILING KAT! :)
I've hit that lull between creative bursts. Just posted a new short story, and I'm not sure what I want to record to video.
I am very sad today. John Mortimer is dead. :(
Good morning, intrawebz. Friday has come! Rejoice!!!

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Six words I never want to hear in one sentence ever again: WAITING TO EXHALE EXTENDED DIRECTOR'S CUT.
-11 degrees in Chicago today?!? Now THAT is cold.
Those old school songs I bought from Amazon last night? AWESOME IDEA. Podcasts are nice, but I need tunes when I work.
Anyone know any good podcatchers for Linux, other than gPodder?
Rough night for little Ethan. Cried pretty much all night. Josh and Olga are sleeping it off now.
Good morning, intrawebz. Especially you, New Little Moskovitz. :)
Geez, did I stay up til midnight AGAIN? Bed for me, now! Night, night, all.
OK, I really need to stay away from Amazon's MP3 store when I'm posting old 80s videos from YouTube.
Dear Amazon: WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I CAN'T DOWNLOAD EDDIE MURPHY'S "PARTY ALL THE TIME"?!? GET ON THE STICK, YA RAT BASTARDS. Love, Me.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

I forgot how much I hate skipping FF all day and then trying to catch at the end of the day. I really want to go to sleep - right after I check out what everyone else did today.
The door's closed, but I can still hear the baby crying. I feel bad for Josh and Olga, but at the same time, I am almost glad that I am partially deaf.
Is it my imagination, or is the FF chat function a bit slow? I'm just now picking up comments from an hour ago.
It is a very nice feeling to be able to hold a baby whose first inclination upon seeing you is not to scream in terror, but rather to fall asleep in your arms.
Mom and Steph just took off from visiting the newest Perez. Finally have some time to look at my feeds and clean up a bit.
On my way to the store. Mom is making cream puffs tonight while Olga and Josh show off the baby to Olga's dad in Russia and her aunt in Israel via Skype and the 40 in flat screen.
Watching both grandmothers dote over the baby is hilarious.
Home from work. The baby is finally home. He is a typical Perez: eat, sleep or poop.
RANDOM THOUGHT: I'm going to have to explain to my nephew what life was like before mobile phones. And internet. And downloadable music.
Throwing up the personal firewall today. Too much work to do and not enough hours.
OK. Now I'm going to bed. Good night, all.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Blah. Can't sleep.
Tired from yesterday's joy and today's overwork. Turning in early. Night, night, intrawebz.
Home with Josh and Sparky. Olga, her mom Lisa and the baby will be coming home tomorrow.
Was not ready for today. Sleep deprivation + mountain of paperwork + boss walking past my desk once an hour = wacky fun.
Random TV thought: 24 is the direct descendant of the old movie serials of the 40s: hero gets out of last week's pickle, stuff happens in the middle, and cliffhanger is set up for next week. Apparently, Jack Bauer is the 21st Century's Flash Gordon.
Good morning, intrawebz. And it is a very good morning. :)

Monday, January 12, 2009

Today was a pretty good day. But now it's time to sleep and dream of the future. Good night, FriendFeed.
Home from the hospital. Josh, Olga and Ethan are all doing well. Gonna walk the dog, then upload pics and vids.
In the waiting room for the opportunity to take baby pics. Watching 24. I am so lost after skipping last season.
BABY UPDATE: ETHAN GABRIEL PEREZ, BORN 12 JANUARY 2009, 7:11 PM. PICS AND FURTHER DETAILS UPCOMING.
BABY UPDATE: The pushing has begun!!! RED ALERT!!! BABY INBOUND!!!
Battery in G1 is nearly dead. Serves me right for leaving the USB charger at home. At least I brought Josh's laptop with me, or I would have lost my mind by now.
BABY UPDATE: Finally happening. The midwife was stuck in another delivery. Exiled to the waiting room while they set up the room.
BABY UPDATE: Olga: "You know how they say that diamonds are a girl's best friend? *shakes head* Drugs are."
BABY UPDATE: YES! Olga just said, "DAMN YOU, STEVEN PEREZ!" Sadly, she will not repeat it for video. At least, not right now.
BABY UPDATE: 9 cm. The pushing will begin in a few hours.
BABY UPDATE : 5 cm. Mother is hopped up on drugs. Father needs some.
BABY UPDATE: Nothing yet. Going to feed the father-to-be before he falls down. Looooooooooong night last night.
Good morning, intrawebz. Today is the day.
Time for bed. Long day tomorrow, I think. Good night, FriendFeed.

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Great. I want to record a video, but I gave Josh the Flip. Darn kid is already running my life, and he's not even my kid.
BABY UPDATE: On my way out the door. Father-to-be in need of Whopper and milkshake combo. And laptop.
BABY UPDATE: The doctors say that Olga should give birth within the next 24 hours. Her mom is on her way from California.
Breakfast was tasty. Now to see what other trouble I can cause this fine Sunday afternoon.
Good morning, intrawebz. So do not want to get out of this nice warm bed this morning.
Hmm, second time my head hit the desk. Must be a gravity well near the computer. Maybe I can counter this field by getting into bed and going to sleep. Attempting this now. Night, night, FriendFeed.
DOH! I totally forgot about Neil Patrick Harris on SNL tonight. :(

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Been practicing for Patricia and Kaia's songs. The karaoke mp3s really help in one respect: they let me know how off-key I sing if I can't see the notes.
pleeze for nawt to bee distrubing. killn sithth rite nao.
Laundry and football. Ah. a restful Saturday afternoon ... which probably means the evening will end in sex, blood and pain. Better find the silver stakes.
Home from my travels. And I picked up a new gizmo while I was out. :)
Tina got Dave to join FF last night. Alex and Robert. Morgan and Josh. Hmmm, I should see if I can't get my brother Joel to join FriendFeed. If he's not to busy with the baby, that is.
Heading out for that coffee, among other things.
Good morning, intrawebz. Brain requires massive caffeine infusion. Will supply with triple Turkish latte to compensate.

Friday, January 9, 2009

Writing a new piece of short science fiction set in the Middle East.
Have been informed by the sister-in-law this morning that I do not have a "corporate" frame-of-mind because I loathe meetings. THANK GOD. I'd have killed myself years ago if I found that I actually enjoy meetings.
Josh and Olga are gearing up for the inevitable arrival of the baby this coming week. Their excitement is contagious, as I am excited, too.
Time for bed. Night, night, all.

Thursday, January 8, 2009

Baking a cake. Be back in a bit.
Home from dinner with the family. Mom made turkey burgers and Pop shared his very fine wine. Very sleepy now.
I wonder if Fox can be sued for copyright squatting re: WATCHMAN.
Ah, lunch has been consumed, tie is loosened slightly, and headphones are in place. Four more hours ...
I am in a goofy, romantic mood. I blame the tie.
Far past time for me to retire for the evening. Good night, all.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

The Hyde Formula is starting to take effect. Got my hat and cane. Off to paint the town red. Don't wait up.
Since we're getting rid, er, sending Joe the Plumber to Gaza, is there some way we can drop off Ann Coulter in the Khyber Pass?
Buh-bye, Livejournal.
THE DARK KNIGHT is great for depression therapy. No matter how bad things are going for you, you can always look at screwed-up Bruce Wayne and say, "At least I'm not THAT bad off."
Mom gave me a pair of raspberry scones last night. Really looked forward to NOMs this morning, only to find that Josh and Olga took both scones. Now contemplating horrible injuries for both.
Good morning, intrawebz. Just for the record, electric seat warmers in a newer car are a godsend in the winter.
Falling asleep at the keyboard. Time to turn in. Good night, all.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

Random thought: I now carry enough portable computer memory to hold the first iteration of my digital music collection in my G1, camera and thumbdrive and still have room for a portable operating system. I live in the future.
Home for lunch. Soup and sandwiches.
OK, too much caffeine. World is shaking. Reminder to self: never take cold medicine with copious amounts of java.
Tried watching American cable news channels this morning. Gave up when all three of them started interviewing the coroner who autopsied John Travolta's kid.
Good morning, intrawebz. Had to file down the horns this morning, and the larger right fist is a bit unwieldy, but I'm getting used to it.
Oh, well. Time to get that condo on the Lake of Fire. Night, night, intrawebz.
Methinks the sheer force of Monday has caused some folks on these here intrawebz to crack.

Monday, January 5, 2009

Playing video games. Be back later.
I sometimes wonder, in all the usual social media hubbub, if somehow the greater question is missed: can the economy sustain the internet as we now know it? How can we be sure that services like Twitter or FriendFeed will be able to weather what is coming?
Dear Google: Ogg Vorbis files have file extensions other than .ogg, such as .oga. If you could correct this so my G1 will play my Ogg Vorbis files, that would be awesome. Regards, Me.
Feeling a little better. Went home for lunch; had soup and a copious amount of antihistamines. Now ready to toss comets around.
Mini-review of THE MIST: I am never going to sleep tonight.

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Snuggling down into bed to watch a scary movie. With the lights off. ... Where did i put my teddy bear?
Wow. I walk away from the computer for an hour, and Songbird finds the weirdest songs to play. I'm gonna have to build some playlists.
This bug is really making me cranky. I've been snapping at inanimate objects for the past two hours. I'm almost afraid to hook up my brother's new xBox 360.
Note to self: never go outside to check the mailbox in your pajamas while the wet snow is still on the ground. Wet and cold ankles and feet FTL.
YAY! The snow is falling!

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Ack. Nothing is worse than wet socks after cleaning the kitchen.
Hmmm, just got the Twitter DM that everyone's been talking about.
I miss my camera.
Food beckons. Must consume.
Good morning, intrawebz. Wait, I missed morning? Wow, that Nyquil really packs a wallop.
Past my bedtime, it is. Night, night, intrawebz.

Friday, January 2, 2009

I has a tea. Getting into bed to watch DEATH RACE and think warm thoughts of snowfall.
Got a wicked combo tonight: the flu and a loose tooth. Cue Evil Steven's appearance tonight.
For Akiva: this message went out to 23 different services. Go shampoo your own dirty bits.
Is time for NOMZ. What to eat, I wonder?
60 DEGREES?!? What the hell happened to winter? IT'S JANUARY, FER CRYIN OUT LOUD!!! WINTER FAIL!!!
OK, why isn't the FF IM working on my phone?
LUNCH NAO!!!
God, I'm so bored right now.
I hate month-end closing, mainly because I'm going to stuck behind the corporate firewall all day. :(
Good morning, intrawebz. I owe, I owe, so it's off to work I go. :(
Time for bed. Some of us have work tomorrow. Night, night, intrawebz.
I need more books.

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Tea is needed. Tea is requested. Tea is thrown at me. Bad tea.
Taking a break from CASPIAN. Lord, that movie dragged like an old muffler.
Watching PRINCE CASPIAN. Two-and-a-half hours of Narnia. Wish me luck.
This flu bug is driving me nuts. Can't even enjoy a nice meal. Oh, well, home to blog, then a pair of Marx Brothers movies.
Out and about, getting a bite to eat.
Dear Evil Sock Gnomes: please stop stealing all of my socks. They're way too big for most normal sized-people, so I know that they're too big for you. Regards, Me.
Watching PLANET OF THE APES. Good gravy, this soundtrack blows chunks.
"GET YER STINKING PAWS OFF ME, YOU DAMN DIRTY APE!"
Lesson learned from BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES: Future wars will suck due to a lack of sfx budget. Also, school buses are awesome battle wagons.
Claude Akins as a gorilla is hilarious. I expect him start pitching me a new transmission any minute now. [/70's kid]
Dear Google: could you please finish making the Linux version of Chrome, SOON? Regards, Me.
Watching the PLANET OF THE APES marathon and munching on an omelette.
OK, since I don't want to spread pestilence and disease, I have opted to stay home and make an omelette. In my pajamas. Wait, no, the omelette doesn't go in my pajamas ... OK, coffee first.
Trying to decide if I want to go out for breakfast or just stay in my pajamas and make an omelette.
Hey! My calendar says that the year is 2009! When did this happen?
Good morning, intrawebz. I could sure go for some tea.
